چکیده

Any scientific discovery must include an epistemic process to gain knowledge of or to ascertain the existence of some empirical and/or logical entailments previously unknown or unrecognized. The epistemic operation of deduction in an epistemic process of an agent is to fred new and valid entailments logically from some premises which are known facts and/or assumed hypothesis. Automated theorem fmding can be regarded as the automation of deduction operations of an agent. This paper discusses the logical basis of automated theorem finding from the viewpoint of relevant logic. The paper points out why classical mathematical logic and/or its various extensions are not suitable logical tools for solving the problem, and shows that paradox-free relevant logics are more hopeful candidates for the p~.

Parallel Forward Deduction Algorithms of General-Purpose Entailment Calculus on Shared-Memory Parallel Computers

An automated forward deduction system for entailment calculus is an indispensable component of many application systems – such as theorem finding, active database, knowledge discovery systems – that require an autonomous reasoning engine. The performance of an automated forward deduction system is crucial to its applicability. In this paper, we present some parallel forward deduction algorithms...

EnCal: an automated forward deduction system for general-purpose entailment calculus

This paper presents the fundamental design ideas, working principles, and implementation of an automated forward deduction system for general-purpose entailment calculus, named EnCal, shows its potential applications in knowledge acquisition, reasoning rule generation, and theorem finding, reports some current results of our experiments with EnCal, and suggests some important research problems.

SOME FUNDAMENTAL RESULTS ON FUZZY CALCULUS

In this paper, we study fuzzy calculus in two main branches differential and integral.  Some rules for finding limit and $gH$-derivative of $gH$-difference, constant multiple of two fuzzy-valued functions are obtained and we also present fuzzy chain rule for calculating  $gH$-derivative of a composite function.  Two techniques namely,  Leibniz's rule and integration by parts are introduced for ...

Discovery Using Heterogeneous Combined Logics

Introduction Research in hybrid logic systems and, later, description logics, has revealed a tradeoff between the expressivity of a logical formalism, and the complexity of reasoning within that formalism. This is why, for instance, tractable inference procedures are known for certain classes of description logics and for (some) formalisms underlying knowledge representation on the Semantic Web...

A Proof-Based Annotation Platform of Textual Entailment

We introduce a new platform for annotating inferential phenomena in entailment data, buttressed by a formal semantic model and a proof-system that provide immediate verification of the coherency and completeness of the marked annotations. By integrating a web-based user interface, a formal lexicon, a lambda-calculus engine and an off-the-shelf theorem prover, the platform allows human annotator...
